Here’s the thing. I’ve written an introductory post about 19 times in my head. Several nights I’ve stared at the home screen, thinking I should be writing something on it. Twice I’ve had people help me put fake posts on the blog so that I could learn to use it. (You would think this wouldn’t be that complicated, but people, I still hand-write checks to pay all my bills.) And yet, months have gone by and I haven’t actually published a post, despite my heart desire to write and reflect more regularly. Despite a list of possible post ideas and stories that are swirling in my head.
That changes right now. Today! Today, I put this little post up. It may not say much but this is how things start. If I don’t start today, and wait another year, I’ll look back and wish I’d started today. I’m not wishing. I’m starting! It may be a little rough around the edges but I’m taking the leap. Begin somewhere–just begin. Right?
I’m planning to reflect on ordinary things, believing they are the most amazing: hence, the title of this blog. I will reflect more in some initial posts, but I do believe this with all my heart: it is in the ordinary, every day things that God’s glory is reflected. There are many beautiful places in the world. But if we look too hard, if we are always searching for something else that is somewhere else, we will miss what (and more importantly, who) is right in front of us. I’m determined to not have that happen to me–maybe you’re in the same place?
Come along with me on this journey. The journey of the glorious ordinary.
